People there are usually nice. It just stinks when you pay 100's of dollars for books and then JJC doesn't buy them back because they're upgrading to a "newer edition." So you're basically stuck. I had to take out extra loans to cover the cost of my books. I made about $15 selling them back. While renting is cheaper, it still costs money to do so and a lot of times they only have NEW books. It's rough to be a college student in this state. We're going to school to get careers, but going into debt at the same time. There aren't many scholarships, but there's plenty of money for parents and that's great, but what about us that have made the conscious decision to NOT have kids? The took the MAP grant away and you're lucky if the Pell covers half of your classes/books. It's very disheartening.
People are very friendly and helpful. They truly care more about helping you find the best (lowest priced) textbook you need rather than pushing you to a new (expensive) book. Granted, books are generally very expensive, but it isn't this bookstore that's setting the pricing.
